A lot of people are excited for the BMW 8 Series Coupe Concept to make its debut. And now, it is at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, which will then be followed by a production model under the same name probably after just a few months. Like any other cars, the 8 Series will probably have some minor changes here and there from the concept to the production model. Having said that, the production model may include the addition of a removable top.
Nothing has been confirmed yet in terms of the production model, but as you can see on this rendering by X-Tomi design, the 8 Series Coupe has lost its roof. Though it looks pretty awesome, it seems just like the artist literally erased the roof from the original photo without modifying the car that much. Another thing that has been added to the design is the Valencia Orange finish, along with a few added cues for the production ready design.
The BMW 8 Series Coupe has been given a set of 21-inch light alloy wheels with multi-spoke design and aero elements, an aggressive front fascia with air vents visible in both bumpers as well as the front fenders. For a touring car look, it was designed to have muscular flared wheel arches, sleek headlights and taillights, and dual exhaust tips.
With the coupe’s low slung, sporty and visually striking face, it seems like BMW has a new design language that’s heading to a different direction and one that will include the use of a large pair of kidney grilles, sharp twin headlights, and large air intakes. Unlike the usual, the kidneys are placed on a whole frame forming a single, wide element, giving it a dynamic character.
For the concept coupe, the company gave it a cabin that has the balance of luxury and sport. The seats are wrapped in leather inside a carbon fiber shell. The Merino leather, in Dark Brown and Fjord White cabin is complemented with a Swarovski glass on the iDrive controller.
The company has kept quiet when it comes to what’s going to be under the 8 Series Coupe’s hood. But Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President of BMW Group Design gave us some hints when he said that it will be a “full-bodied high-end driving machine”. He even described it to be a luxurious sports car that embodies both dynamics and luxury like no other.
Whether it happens or not, we’d always welcome a convertible of the upcoming BMW 8 Series. It will definitely be a good one to add to the lineup, don’t you think?
